Here's a departure for me; a battalia for FK&P that is, for once, a sensible size. This unit is 19cm wide, with 22 minis, and designed(to fit in a 20cm grid. This is the format in which I anticipate many 28mm players will game the rules- quick to paint and you could game on a 6' x 4' table (although 8' by 4' would be better). 6 pike are flanked by 12 shot and led by 4 command minis. Photo is clickable.
All the miniatures are Bicornes painted for me by Shaun McTague; flags are Flags of War. The bases are new ECW batbases that aren't yet in the shop; they are just over 6cm square. You'll see some of the shot, moonlighting in another unit that is designed for the larger grid, tomorrow...
Top notch regiment with amazing colors...and what can I say about these flags? Everything's superb Simon, congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, I love ECW flags. :-)
DeleteSensible? Who wants that?
ReplyDeleteA word that rarely enters my vocabulary; like "skirmish". :-)
DeleteTime to retire the big red bat and wheel in the small beige butterflies ;-)
ReplyDeleteEven with this unit I've worked out a way to turn it into a large unit... :-)
DeletePhew, I'm glad to hear it!
DeleteSensibly-sized and looks great too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan!
DeleteGreat unit !
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteLovely looking unit, great flags!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
YEs flags came out great. :-)
DeleteI have about 20, sensible* sized units, ready for action. Do you carry 8' by 4' mats with a 20cm grid in the Bat Shop? I can hardly wait to play.
ReplyDelete*Often defined by insensible people such as myself.
Hi William, I don't have an 8x4 20cm mat but I do have an 8x6 20cm mat. Have a think whether that will do - if not I can order some in- probably a good idea with the new rules coming out.
ReplyDeleteIt will do just fine!
ReplyDeleteNice regiment; minimal size to get enough of a pike block.
ReplyDeleteThis is the same scheme I used for my 40mm collection; with 6+units a side.
Yes I wouldn't want any fewer minis than that; but it works.
